This site is dedicated to developing understanding of the lives and circumstances of people with learning disabilities. It's aim is to help families, friends, social care and health professionals provide the best possible care and support for people with learning disabilities. It is hoped that this will play a part in ensuring that an individual with a learning disability has the chance to lead a valued and fulfilling life and achieve their goals and aspirations.

Understanding Individual Needs has been designed with the purpose of providing basic information that may be required by a parent with a child who has been newly diagnosed with a learning disability, or a parent of a young person reaching adulthood. For those who already have extensive experiential knowledge of the lives of people with learning disabilities, this site will provide routinely updated information as well as links to additional sites.
